I'm a Fulbright Arabic teacher sponsored by Fulbright cultural exchange program, US Department of State. I'm teaching Arabic as a foreign language at Mississippi Valley State University. I'm also teaching a culture course; namely, the Arab culture, focusing on Egypt, my homeland. Next semester, I'll be teaching Arabic and the Egyptian culture along with a few Arabic poems sung by Arab celebrities.
In December, I'm representing Egypt as a cultural presenter in the Cultural Fair held by Fulbright Mid-Year Conference in Washington DC. I may be a member of the peer review committee of the same conference.

My paper presented at this conference is my master's research done at Cairo University, Egypt. The paper was an experimental study targetting developing a novel simple method to enable elementary EFL learners to self-correct their writing mistakes using checklists. All self-correction checklists found in the literature use metalanguage terms such as "subject-verb agreement" which elementary foreign learners do not fully understand. This study suggested and tested self-correction checklists that use the target language that the learners are familiar with, learn, and need to self-correct. In other words, this checklist used the communicative language teaching approach in self-assessment for the first time, to my knowledge. The quantitative results of the study showed that the suggested target-language checklists significantly outdid the metalanguage ones found in the literature.
